Budget Direct Opens Adelaide Office to Create Local Jobs and Strengthen Customer Service

Budget Direct, Australia's most decorated insurer and part of the Auto & General group, has begun serving customers from a new base in Adelaide. The move is a major investment in South Australia.
A new team in the city centre
The facility opened today in Adelaide's central business district. It will start with a customer service team of around 50 staff. The team will handle all Auto & General policies, including those held by Budget Direct customers and the group's partner brands.
Plans for growth
In early 2027, the operation will relocate to a permanent site with room for up to 300 employees, allowing it to keep expanding.
Leadership views
Adam Crane, CEO of Insurance Australia at Auto & General, said the Adelaide office shows the company's commitment to customers in South Australia and across the country. He added that the investment supports the local economy, opens long-term job opportunities and contributes to the city's future growth, while also improving service and strengthening ties with the community.
Ashley Wright, General Manager of South Australian Operations, is relocating to Adelaide to set up the new team. Wright described it as an exciting time to build a team that will deliver high-quality service to customers. The focus, Wright said, is on giving policyholders a smooth, supportive experience, and Wright is especially pleased to be recruiting local talent and opening new career paths in the state.
A long-term commitment
The expansion reflects Budget Direct's aim to serve its growing customer base and to keep creating jobs across Australia. The company sees the new office as a sign of its long-term outlook and its confidence that Adelaide can support its national operations.
